At the Bishop Museum, thanks to the amazing planetarium team there (hi Romee!) and Tony’s incredible skill and tenacious hard work, we were able to make a seemingly crazy dream a reality: a dream of bringing our book to life on the planetarium screen.

It all begins with an idea.

When people find out we make children’s books, they often express interest in seeing some of our process. In this post, we’ll like to give you a quick tour of how we took one illustration from sketch to final art.

It all started at an airport.

For those of you who don’t know MAK & TEA (our collaboration) was born in the Ft. Lauderdale airport after our flight home to California was delayed more than 8 hours.
